Call for Entries

Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts, in Blue Mountain Lake, NY, exhibits traditional and contemporary art in any medium. All artists are encouraged to apply. Curatorial proposals are welcome. Wood, fiber, print, metal, ceramic, stone, installation, oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, photography, illustration, etc... have been shown in the Center’s multiple galleries. The Arts Center has three galleries which show throughout the year. The deadline for submission is November 1, 2008. Submissions postmarked after that date will not be considered for exhibition.

Selection and notification will be completed within two months following the deadline. Submissions are reviewed by a panel of professionals and local residents. Please do not call to inquire about the status of your submission. Exhibits run four to eight weeks. Artists will be considered for solo, two person or group exhibits. Artists must arrange the transport of works to and from the Center. Invitations, publicity and other details are shared between the artist and the Arts Center.

Performance Opportunities

Our goals are to give both children and adults the chance to discover and express the creativity inherent in each of us, to open a window on the world for the people we serve and to increase the sense of community in the region through the arts. People in the region have very few opportunities to see live performances, therefore; we are committed to featuring top quality performing artists.

If you, or the artist(s) you represent, are interested in performing in Blue Mountian Lake,
please send a press packet, references and CD to Susan Sessions, Program Director.
Dance, theatre and performing arts groups should send a DVD.

Teaching Opportunities

The Arts Center was founded in 1967 by a group of Adirondack residents who believed in bringing excellent arts programming to isolated communities in the center of the park. More than 40 years later, the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts still inhabits the former Fuller's Garage Building in downtown Blue Mountain Lake. At present our facilities include a 32 ft x 48 ft multi-purpose space (used for performances, workshops, community events, dance classes and exhibits), two other exhibition galleries, two studio workshops - each approximately 25 ft x 30 ft, a lobby, a projection/sound/light booth, a darkroom, an electric ceramics kiln, enameling kilns, and a full range of jewelry, printmaking, pottery and other craft tools.

If you would like to teach a workshop in Blue Mountain Lake, please send a written proposal,
resume, references, and images of the project to Susan Sessions, Program Director.
Please do not send original samples.
